Liberty View Brooklyn Hotel

No complaints! NYC hotel rooms are always on the smaller side and this is consistent with my past hotel experiences. But the room was comfortable and the staff at the hotel was so friendly and very helpful. It’s right next to a big police station which did make for not infrequent sirens passing by, but I felt safe parking on the street due to the big police presence in the area. The hotel feels clean and nicely decorated. I didn’t end up trying the breakfast but it’s nice that it’s included. I’d definitely come back.

Visiting family in Sunset Park, this was a great location. I was nervous based on some of the negative reviews,but found every thing great. One of the cleanest properties I've ever seen. Tight room but that's the norm for the NYC region, comfortable bedding, great TV package, nice hot breakfast and some of the friendliest staff around! Nice little patio on the side where we enjoyed some time, felt very safe as we were next door to the police precinct. Quiet, clean, comfortable, best value for this part of Brooklyn! Lots of places to eat within walking distance and extremely close to Industry City. Wheelchair accessible.

Generally great, but... This is a new hotel with nicely designed rooms. The bathroom was huge, the shower was amazing, and the views were pleasant. Breakfast was good and the eating area was open and pretty. However... This is the lowest review I've given in a very long time. There was a *giant* bug crawling all over the walls. I could not get it, so I finally called the front desk. More than ten minutes later (there was only one employee), he arrived with a zapper. We ended up catching it, which I appreciated. Meanwhile, the zapper was left on my bed, which felt gross. When I went downstairs to let it out, I was locked out of the hotel because you can only get in by the front desk when it's late, and he, the only employee, was still upstairs... getting a huge bug from another room! I wouldn't have mentioned it but when I called to request a partial refund, they offered 15%. When I accidentally laughed, he checked with a manager and it became 20%. Not fantastic.

The room is very small, it's basically a place to sleep and shower. The good part? It's clean, there's a police station next door, a train stop less than a 5 minute walk away, and the staff is incredibly kind and friendly, and it's very quiet. Now the bad... The AC unit blows directly onto the bed making it uncomfortable to sleep, turning it off only causes the room to warm up. The first night the room was okay, the second night I returned and the room and floor smelled of cigarette smoke. Don't bother with breakfast, it was rehydrated eggs, suspicious looking sausage, dry hash brown patties, a tray of hard boiled eggs, and yogurt that wasn't chilled. The cereal dispenser destroys your cereal so it becomes little flakes or powder. Don't eat at the deli across the street, walk 6 minutes left or right and find a diner. Final verdict? If you find it for less than $150/night it's worth it if you just need a place to sleep and shower.

Front desk was helpful. The breakfast was plenty and clean. The rooms were clean and had the essentials. Here are the things to know: the breakfast opens late at 7:30 and 8:00 on the weekends. If you are an early riser there is nowhere to get coffee. The nearest store is 5 blocks away. The neighborhood has rats. We saw one playing in the flowers out front. Its a Brooklyn problem.
